Yesterday Ezekiel and I took a photo shoot walk with one of my closest friends and her daughter who is exactly one month older than Ezekiel. We chatted about life, motherhood, and futures. We stopped at various spots along the trail to get some great photos, and just had a really good time.
Days like today always put me in such a thankful mood. Spending quality time with friends basically guarantees that I will be reflecting all day long and yesterday was no different.
I was reminded of a quote by Melody Beattie:
[Gratitude] turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
For me, as I continue to strive for simplicity I find myself becoming more grateful for the things I do have. I cherish the small moments more, I look out my window and adore the beauty of nature more, I stop to enjoy a cup of tea in the middle of the day, I make sure to express myself to those around me, and generally I enjoy life way more.
So let’s practice gratitude and make what we have now, enough for tomorrow.
